The European Commission has adopted legislation expanding the existing REACH annex XVII restriction on lead to include the toxic substance’s elimination from products made of polyvinyl chloride. The restriction, which includes temporary exemptions, begins to apply as of November 29, 2024.
Regulatory background
Lead (CAS RN 7439-92-1), whose toxicity to human health and the environment is well documented, has been restricted under the REACH Regulation ( 1907/2006/EC) for over a decade.
