Manager of Research Operations

Julia John is Manager of Research Operations and edits AgencyIQ’s chemicals coverage, including regulatory developments in the European Union and U.S.

Before joining AgencyIQ, Julia helped run a news desk focused on U.S. federal, state-level and Canadian chemical regulations and spent several years as a reporter on the busy per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) beat. She also covered actions on chemicals in personal care products, food contact materials and other goods regulated by the FDA, as well as state legislative efforts and green chemistry programs.

Julia holds a master’s degree in environmental science and policy from Johns Hopkins University. She majored in environmental studies with a nonfiction writing focus at Middlebury College.

Julia lives in Washington, D.C., with her partner and talkative brown tabby, Squid.
