Regulatory background

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a wide class of synthetic organic chemicals that have been produced since the 1940’s. PFAS are prized for their abilities to repel both water and oil, and the carbon-fluorine bonds that are the hallmark of most PFAS are able to resist a wide range of environmental stressors.
