Updated California PFOA, PFOS draft health goals released

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment has published a second public review draft for perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid in drinking water.

PFOA, PFOS, and OEHHA

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a wide class of synthetic organic chemicals that are utilized in many different industrial and consumer products. PFAS are generally very stable due to the chain carbon-fluorine bonds that is generally the hallmark of a PFAS. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) are two long-chain PFAS that have been utilized in several applications.
