FDA to hold a public meeting on the Modernization of the Cosmetics Regulation Act (MoCRA)

The Modernization of the Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 is the “most significant expansion of the Food and Drug Administration’s Authority to regulate cosmetics” since 1938. Some of the changes are the FDA’s authority to mandatorily recall cosmetic products, and the requirements to list cosmetic products and facilities with the FDA. A significant amendment to labeling provisions will require the identification of fragrance allergens. In anticipation of guidance and rulemaking, the FDA will be holding a public meeting listening session on good manufacturing practices for cosmetic products on June 1, 2023.
